⇒ Video Profiles of Community Initiatives

PVF has produced three short videos that highlight the community initiatives described below.  Click on the link to view the video.

Holy Family School  - support for a model K-5th grade school for non-English speaking immigrant children in Redwood City, CA, which works also to educate and "graduate" the students' mothers, to break the cycle of poverty.

Parent Involvement Worker Program - program to hire Hispanic ESL graduates as classroom aides to facilitate non-English speaking parents' involvement in their children's education in East Palo Alto, CA.

Catholic Worker House - Assistance to the poor through housing, food and education programs in Redwood City, San Bruno and Half Moon Bay.  Larry Purcell founded the Catholic Worker House of Redwood City in 1975 to serve the needs of the very poor, basing the program on the Catholic Worker model: No one is paid to work, and no one is charged for services.
