Early Environmental Education
Early environmental education is an important aspect for creating environmentally conscious adults, but it is often neglected in underfunded public schools. PVF’s Environmental Science Resource Grant Program aims to address this by making our popular immediate response teacher grants available for environmental and conservation-focused projects in classrooms throughout the Bay Area.
Up to five $500 grants are available to each low-income public school in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Santa Clara, San Francisco or San Mateo County to enhance environmental science curriculum through projects, supplies, and the teacher’s own professional development.
A major theme in the applications we receive are field trip requests. In just the 2022-2023 school year, teachers have been awarded grants to bring their students to all of the following places:
- California Academy of Sciences
- Marine Science Institute
- Lindsey Wildlife Experience Program
- Ardenwood Historic Farm
- Chabot Space & Science Center
- Vida Verde Nature Education
- Hidden Villa Farms
In addition, Environmental Science grants can be used to take your students to the local zoo, aquarium, park or watershed.
