SheEO’s New Ventures Re-designing the World
By Savannah Lira, Program Officer
SheEO started its model to support female entrepreneurs in Canada in 2015 and, in 4 years, has expanded its program into the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. The model involves female identifying individuals (“Activators”) contributing to a fund that is loaned out, interest-free, to local, women-led ventures with a social good mission.
Since SheEO launched its program in the U.S., PVF has been its designated fund partner, holding the fund, receiving contributions from Activators, loaning out to the top five ventures selected each year, and processing loan repayments.
This year, SheEO conducted its fourth round in the U.S. and has announced its top five ventures:
Pandia Health (CEO & Co-founder: Sophia Yen MD, MPH) is on a mission to make women’s lives better by providing easy access to reliable, convenient, and confidential health care via telemedicine and medication delivery, starting with birth control.
EcoEnergy (CEO & Co-founder: Shazia Khan) distributes solar powered energy to people without energy access.
Sisu Global (CEO & Co-founder: Carolyn Yarina) envisions a world where medical technology enables access to healthcare for each person in their own community. They are the future of medical devices in the rapidly expanding market of emerging economies, starting with Hemafuse: a highly effective alternative to donor blood.
Welcome Home Health (Chief Experience Officer: Vanessa McLaughlin) is disrupting the hospital discharge process that leaves patients confused and anxious. Their Patient Health Advocates navigate patients/caregivers with daily video visits.
Kai XR (CEO & Founder: Kai Frazier) is a first-to-market, educational WebVR platform providing inclusive VR field trips & accessible VR maker-spaces for kids to explore, dream, and create.
