The St. Vincent de Paul Community Center on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland is a comprehensive collective of services to the poor. PVF funded the foot clinic, which is an important service to identify potential diabetic problems.
In addition, there is a lunch program serving 600 a day. Preparation starts at 8am with volunteers.
There is also a men’s and women’s center for washing and drying clothes and offering showers. The main room is a counseling service where anyone can drop in.
Kathy Ahoy, a PVF ambassador and public health nurse, originally called the Center to our attention.
