STEM Festival

In PVF News, teacher grants, technology, TED Thinking

PVF’s Technology, Engineering and Design Thinking (TED) Resource Grant Program opened in 2022 for teachers looking to enhance their students’ STEM/STEAM learning in the form of hands-on projects, classroom resources, curriculum supports, guest subject experts and professional development.

This grant program has quickly become popular and we (and our donors!) love to hear from the teachers about their experience\ receiving a grant. Read a report below from Maryam Cermal and Joyce Huma; TK- 8th grade teachers in Alameda County who were awarded a grant to create a STEM Festival Day for their students and families.

“Dear Philanthropic Ventures Foundation,

On behalf of Greenleaf TK-8, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous grants, which made it possible for us to host a successful STEM Day for our students and families. Thanks to your support, we were able to bring in the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival (JRMF) and Community Resources for Science (CRS) to provide engaging and interactive STEM experiences for our community, with a focus on math and environmental science.

Over 300 students and their families participated in this exciting event, exploring hands-on math and science activities that sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Additionally, we were able to provide STEM kits to each participating student, ensuring that the learning continued beyond the event.

This impactful day would not have been possible without your generosity. Your investment in our community has helped inspire young minds and foster a love for STEM education. We truly appreciate your support in making these enriching experiences accessible to our students and families.

Thank you again for your commitment to education and for helping us bring meaningful learning opportunities to our community.”
